⚠️ New Sewage Use Bylaw ⚠️
As per the City Of Ottawa “Sewer Use” Bylaw we can no longer discharge pool water containing salt to the storm sewer. This affects how we close pools as as follows:
- Non-salt water pools: For a pool that does not use salt, we will pump the discharge water through a de-chlorination device and the water is pumped onto the customer’s property or City storm water system.
- Salt water pools: no pool water with salt can enter the storm sewer system and must be pumped onto your property. However, if you have a direct connection to a sanitary sewer you may be able use that to lower pool water. In any case, it is the owners responsibility to lower pool water 2” below the lowest return fitting(s) before our crew shows up to winterize the pool system and install your cover.
Benson Pools assumes no liability for the discharge of any pool water. The current fine for discharging salt water to the storm sewer is $10,000.

Chemical and Parts Orders
Due to limited staffing we are no longer taking orders by phone. Please email your orders to: perry@bensonpools.com and specify what you need. Your order will be processed and a response with availability will be given within 24-36 hours, between Monday to Friday. Orders placed after 4:00 PM Friday will be processed at the start of the following week.

New Pool Installations
We are the number one inground pool builder in Ottawa. At Benson Pools, we pride ourselves on creating the most beautiful and long lasting, fully customized swimming pools available. We can construct any size or shape, even adding special features at your request. Our new pool builds typically start at $70,000 Canadian but with various options and accessories can end up closer to $120,000. This is before factoring in additional costs for items such as landscaping, decking, and fencing.
